Total Spine Health is the private spinal practice of Mr Michael C. Quaye, Consultant Spinal Surgeon. The practice was established in 2020 and is built around clear diagnosis, sensible treatment planning and a calm, highly personalised standard of care.
After many years working within the NHS, Mr Quaye made the decision to move fully into private practice in order to offer patients the level of access, time and continuity of care that I believe is essential. My focus is now on providing high-quality, consultant-led assessment and treatment within prompt timeframes, with clear communication and a personalised approach at every stage
Patients come for specialist assessment of back pain, neck pain, nerve symptoms and more complex spinal conditions, with treatment recommendations tailored to the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach

Specialist spinal care with a clear and considered approach
Mr Michael C. Quaye is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon with training in both the surgical and non-surgical management of spinal conditions. He established Total Spine Health to provide patients with expert spinal assessment, safe advice and a clear treatment plan that reflects their symptoms, lifestyle and goals.
His approach is thoughtful and practical. For some patients, that means reassurance, rehabilitation and careful monitoring. For others, it may involve spinal injections, minimally invasive techniques or more advanced surgery where clearly appropriate.
About Mr Michael C. Quaye
Training, experience and specialist interests
Originally from Cheshire, Mr Quaye studied medicine at St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine, graduating in 2006. During his medical training, he also completed a degree in Materials Engineering at Queen Mary University of London, obtaining first class honours.
Following orthopaedic training in Wessex, he undertook advanced fellowship training in Southampton University Hospital, Oxford Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town and Frimley Park Hospital. He has published peer-reviewed work, contributed to specialist academic writing and presented at national and international conferences.
His practice focuses on adult spinal conditions, with particular interests in degenerative spine disorders, scoliosis deformity, sports-related spinal injury and spinal tumours. He also understands how symptoms from the hip, knee or shoulder can overlap with spinal problems, helping patients receive clearer diagnosis and more appropriate onward advice where needed.
Practice philosophy
Clear advice, safe recommendations and an individual plan
A core aim of the practice is that every patient leaves with a better understanding of their condition and a clear plan for what happens next. The focus is not simply on treatment, but on choosing the most appropriate treatment at the right time.
That may mean non-surgical care, targeted investigation, injection treatment or surgery. Where surgery is considered, decisions are made carefully and only after proper assessment, imaging review and discussion of the alternatives.
The practice team
Supported by Leanne Prince, practice manager
Leanne Prince is practice manager at Total Spine Health and plays an important role in the day-to-day running of the practice. The current site describes her as integral to every aspect of the service, bringing experience in finance, administration and NHS-related practice support. She joined the Nuffield Health group in 2021 to work with Mr Quaye.
For patients, this means a friendly, organised and responsive point of contact throughout the process, from first enquiry through to appointments, follow-up and practical coordination of care.
